Appaloosa Bean

Distinctive half-white, half-brown speckled bean that looks like the rump of an Appaloosa pony! 

Compact plant around 18-24" with short runners. Green pods are flat with 5”long and 1/2" wide pods that contain 4 to 6 kidney-shaped seeds.

Often used in dishes as you would a kidney bean; great in soups, stews, chili.

Use as a snap bean when young or left to mature into a dry bean. 
Tolerate poor soil better than other beans.
We grow this bean in San Antonio as a Fall and early Spring bean due to Appaloosa’s ability to tolerate cooler soils.
