Hannah Freeman Bean (Phaseolus Vulgaris)

Rare heirloom pole bean with beautiful tan seeds streaked in maroon. Vigorous climbing vines yield heavily over a long season; excellent as a dry bean with rich, hearty flavor for soups and stews. Hannah Freeman (1730-1802) was a Lenni-Lenape woman known as Indian Hannah and then after her death as the "last Delaware Indian of Chester County, Pennsylvania." Beans can be eaten young and tender as a snap bean; cooked as a shelly or as a dry bean. Good as cornfield bean or in a 3 sisters garden. Matures in ~90–100 days (dry).
